We are proud to announce that we were the organizer of the Food Security and Climate Change (FSCC) Summer School 2018 which was held from 14th till 27th June 2018. This year FSCC Summer School (UPM) have focused on oil palm production and cattle integration as a potential sustainability transition strategy. These activities aim at strengthening participants’ knowledge and understanding of sustainable agriculture and food systems in the face of long-term uncertainties and risks related to resource availability and climate change.
We would thank our main funder, the European Commission’s ERASMUS+ Capacity Building for Higher Education; co-funder, the Southeast Asian University Consortium for Graduate Education in Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC); and our co-organisers, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU) and Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) for their contributions.
The great commitment shown by the participants is also among the elements in making the FSCC Summer School Malaysia 2018 successful. Thus, our sincere appreciation goes to all of the 45 participants who have come from over 8 countries to be with us in this program. We hoped that during this 2-week programme, the momentum built through an intense exchange of ideas will be sustained. The next year's summer school program 2019 will be held in the Philippines at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) and Central Luzon State University (CLSU).
