5 May 2017, Serdang - Food Safety Seminar 1/2017 has been held in Lecture Room 5, Faculty of Agriculture, Universiti Putra Malaysia. About 30 participants which are lecturers and postgraduate students joined this seminar. This seminar was co-organised by the Laboratory of Food Safety and Food Integrity (FOSFI), Institute of Tropical Agriculture and Food Security (ITAFOS) with the Faculty of Food Science and Technology, Universiti Putra Malaysia.
Three FOSFI’s researchers have shared their research findings, respectively. They were:
Researcher 1: Prof. Dr. Jinap Selamat – Formation and reduction of heterocyclic amines in meat
Researcher 2: Dr. Noor Azira Abdul Mutalib – Microbial community analysis of restaurant’s cutting boards using pyrosequencing technique
Researcher 3: Madam Noordiana Nordin – Rapid detection of Vibrio parahaemolyticus by a portable DNA-based biosensor
This seminar has successfully attracted the attention and interest of the audience when there were a lot of questions were asked to the researchers during Q & A session. Thus, proven that this seminar was able to enhance the audience’s knowledge regarding food safety related issues.
